2017
Tamworth, New South Wales

Project overview:

The town of Tamworth in Northern NSW recently received a health boost with the opening of the brand new 360 Fitness Club pool and gym. Featuring a 25m by 8-lane main pool, a 10 x 10m hydrotherapy pool, change rooms, gym and café, a reliable tiling system was required.

Tiles, adhesives and waterproofing membranes were supplied to the development by Tamworth Tilehouse. The consensus from the builder (Single Builders), tiling contractor (NACK Tiling) and Tamworth Tilehouse was that Davco could provide the best product system along with hands-on technical support.

The recommended system included Davco’s most advanced primer – PrimeX – to be applied to the rendered block pool walls and concrete slab base prior to applying Davco’s submerged area waterproofing membrane – Dampfast. To provide a secure bond in a single component adhesive, SMP Evo was specified to adhere the Metz 245 x 125mm commercial pool tiles. The whole pool was given a durable, aesthetic finish with the application of Sanitized® Colorgrout mixed with 4 in 1 Grout Additive.

In the change areas, K10 Rapid was used as the wet area waterproofing membrane. SMP Evo and Sanitized® Colorgrout were used for the Metz Refin Microgrip floor tiles while Powder Mastic and Sanitized® Superfine White Grout were used for the Bode gloss white, rectified wall tiles, both in 600 x 300mm size.

Senior Tamworth Tilehouse and Davco representatives supported the builders and contractors throughout the process with site visits to provide technical training and advice. The whole team pulled together to make this an outstanding landmark development to be enjoyed for many years to come.
