Rockhampton, Queensland
Project overview
The Frenchville Sports Club is an Australian sports club located in Rockhampton, QLD. Through Ashley Cooper Construction, Epcon Contracting Pty Ltd was contracted to install a trafficable waterproof membrane on the Grandstand to replace the existing coating and seal the expansion joints. We recommended Sika’s 400N trafficable membrane system to our client, as it is our preferred choice for such applications.
The club's changing rooms, located underneath the Grandstand, were due for refurbishment. However, before work on the changing rooms could begin, the Grandstand needed to be sealed to prevent water from leaking through the floor into the rooms below. Additionally, the Grandstand floor, which is used by the public during matches, was uneven and holding water. This required regrading to ensure proper drainage, creating a fall toward the front of the stands.
Project requirements
The requirements were to prevent water from leaking into the changing rooms below, caused by the Grandstand floor above, and to reseal the expansion joints. Additionally, the uneven floors and steps of the Grandstand required rectification to create a proper fall and eliminate the ponding water issue.
Sika solution
Diamond grind the existing coatings. Apply Sikafloor 94 epoxy screed to regrade the horizontal sections of the Grandstand, creating a fall to eliminate ponding issues. Apply the Sikafloor 400N heavy-duty system to the treads and rises of the Grandstand. Install Sikaflex Pro in the expansion joints.
