Brisbane, Queensland
Project Background
AP Eagers, one of Australia’s largest automotive retail groups, continues to invest in infrastructure to support its expanding operations across the country. With increasing demand for efficient vehicle servicing and parts distribution in Queensland’s South East region, AP Eagers identified the need for a new large-scale facility. The site in Darra was strategically chosen due to its proximity to key transport routes and industrial hubs, allowing for streamlined logistics and improved service delivery.
To meet AP Eagers’ operational and aesthetic standards, the facility required not only high-capacity service areas but also durable, low-maintenance finishes suitable for heavy vehicular traffic. The flooring system needed to support both functional requirements and reflect the professional, modern image of the AP Eagers brand.
Project Description
This large, state-of-the-art facility is part of AP Eagers' expansion into servicing Queensland’s South East region. Located in the industrial precinct of Darra, the facility will be able to service a large number of cars and trucks per day. It also includes warehousing for parts and accessories, while incorporating a showroom-style design that is aesthetically pleasing to workers, customers, and investors.
As part of the development, there was a need to separate service areas with walkways and wash bays. This is reflected in the use of grey, green, and blue flooring zones.
Project Requirements
The building required our automotive flooring systems to ensure durability, a standard also needed across existing AP Eagers facilities throughout the country.
This includes flooring that is fit for purpose, hard-wearing, and, most importantly, easy to maintain and clean.
Sika Solution
In conjunction with previous facilities, CIP Builders and our trusted contractor Apex Epoxy Flooring, Sika proposed the EB-24 fine-textured 3mm flooring system.
The texture was critical for both ease of cleaning and slip resistance.
This system provided a complete flooring solution across multiple levels by using a combination of general-purpose epoxies and 2–3mm high-performance epoxies with durable, hard-wearing topcoats.
