SikaPlast®-3173 SCM

Mid-Range Water Reducing Admixture

SikaPlast®-3173 SCM is an advanced Mid-Range Water Reducer specifically formulated to produce concrete
with high volume of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM), such as Fly Ash and/or  ground granulated blast slag.

Use of SikaPlast®-3173 SCM effectively achieves the following benefits:
  • Reduced carbon footprint of concrete when used in high SCM mixtures
  • True Neutral Set characteristics, which makes it ideal for use as an all year round admixture and in combination with set retarders and accelerators
  • Improved shrinkage and creep behaviour.
  • Improved plastic concrete properties.
  • High range of target slump (100-200 mm)

Application

Application Information

Dispensing

For best plasticizing results, SikaPlast®-3173 SCM should be added directly to freshly mixed concrete in the concrete mixer or Ready-Mix truck. SikaPlast®-3173 SCM may also be dispensed into the initial batch water. To optimize the superplasticizing effect, Sika recommends that the combined materials be mixed for 80–100 revolutions after the addition of SikaPlast®-3173 SCM, either in the concrete mixer or in the Ready-Mix truck.

Compatibility

SikaPlast®-3173 SCM can be used in conjunction with all Sika Concrete products with the exeption of Sikament NN.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

Typical dosage rate is 400 – 1200 ml per 100 kg of total cementitious material.
Optimum dosage depends on the type of concrete, site conditions, mix proportions, ingredients and desired plastic and hardened concrete properties.
Laboratory and/or field trials are essential in determining the optimum dosage.
