Arncliffe, Sydney
Discovery Point in Sydney’s Arncliffe has residential apartments, commercial/retails suites and 2 basketball courts. The basketball courts were specified to have Sika’s unique polyurethane sports flooring installed.
Project Background
The Sika Pulastic sports floor system must be installed on a flat floor due to the nature of its use. Because of this selection the existing concrete substrate needed modification such as floor levelling applied.
Project Requirements
A detailed surface scan was conducted, and while some areas only needed to be brought up 3mm to level, other areas required 30mm.
Another important point to consider was the fact the concrete was one big open suspended concrete slab that would have teams of people running back and forth, that meant the product selection process had to take into consideration vibration through the slab. Adding to this complexity was the large open floor area meaning the product chosen must have very good working time for the contractor.
Sika Solution
Sika and the contractor both agreed Sikafloor Level Ultra was the only product suitable for this kind of application. Sikafloor Level Ultra can be applied from 1-50mm in depth and due to the unique fiber reinforcement, it offers high flexural strength while being extremely easy to install.
