A SPECIALTY NON POROUS PRIMER FOR TILE AND STONE APPLICATIONS

SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime is a flexible, waterbased, non porous primer designed with superior bond enhancing properties for use on exisiting tiles and non porous surfaces without the need for mechanical surface preparation.

Usage

SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime is designed for use both internally and externally on wall and floor applications. SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime is suitable for use for the following applications.
  • Priming of exisiting soundly fixed tiles prior to fixing new waterproofing & tiling systems.
  • Priming of PVC and metal floor pipes or penetrations and control leak/puddles flanges prior to waterproofing.
  • Priming of soundly fixed water based epoxy coatings prior to tiling.
  • Priming of resin backed tiles and stone prior to fixing.

All application information values are determined in laboratory conditions: 22°C & 50% relative humidity.

Site conditions will vary wait times, higher temperatures will reduce times and cool or cold temperatures will extended wait times

Allow primer to dry and harden prior to waterproofing & tiling.

Consumption is dependant on surface profile, and application technique. Use consumption as a guide only.
Application steps

EQUIPMENT

  • Personal protective equipment
  • Paint brush or short nap paint roller

SUBSTRATE QUALITY

  • All surfaces must be clean, dry, free from dust, grease, wax, oil, laitance, curing compounds, release agents, sealers, coatings, friable material and all other contaminants likely to prevent the SikaTile®-015 Prep N Prime from bonding.
  • All substrate surfaces must be sound and continuous, all voids and gaps must be filled.
  • Ensure all metal surfaces are free from rust and oxidisation film. Lightly sand / abrade metal surfaces prior to application. 

MIXING

Primer comes premixed however stirring is recommended prior to use.

APPLICATION

Apply 1 coat with a paint brush or short nap paint roller to provide a continuous coating to the substrates.

Allow primer to dry and harden prior to tiling or subsequent coatings.

When priming resin backed tile & stone, apply a single continuous coat to the resin backed stone and allow to dry prior to fixing.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Tools and equipment can be cleaned with water prior to the primer drying.
