Regional Victoria
Watpac Constructions won the contract to construct twelve primary schools throughout Victoria.
When considering the floors in the amenities areas of these schools they approached Sika for options.
The design team wanted to explore floor surfaces other than tiles and vinyl. Watpac were interested in a floor that was seamless, easy to clean and very durable.
The floors put forward for consideration were all based on Sikafloor® resin systems.
Able Industrial Flooring, a Sika recommended contractor of long standing, were also consulted to work with the flooring test panels and to assist with the selection process.
Sika solution
Ultimately, Sikafloor® DecoFlake® was chosen. This floor fitted the brief as well as having excellent aesthetics to suit the colour scheme of the schools.
The DecoFlake® system is a multi-layered epoxy floor with vinyl chips encased within.Sikafloor 169 UV stabilised clear epoxy coats protect the floor from wear and tear.
It is hard wearing finish that also had a fine non slip aggre-gate incorporated to achieve a slip rating requierment of P4 according to Australian Standards.
Able Industrial Flooring installed all of the floors under the contract and the result is one that Watpac are very satisified with and will provide the Victorian Education Department service for the long term.
