APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Test product in an inconspicuous area first.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
- All surfaces must be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions and relevant Australian Standard(s) and be structurally sound, dry and free from dirt, dust, laitance, oil, grease, wax, paint, curing compounds, release agents and any other loose or contaminating material. Thoroughly clean old or new surfaces that have been treated prior to waterproofing.
- Any voids or potholes in the substrate must be appropriately filled up with a high strength mortar.
CONCRETE
- All new concrete slabs must have a wood float finish and be allowed to cure for at least 6 weeks.
- Old concrete must be cleaned with a strong commercial grade detergent or degreaser. Then thoroughly wash off any residue with clean water. Allow the surface to dry for at least 24 hours.
- If the concrete (new or old) has a steel trowel or power float finish, it must be mechanically abraded to expose the aggregate, and remove any signs of laitance. If the concrete is free of laitance it can primed with Davco PrimeX.
RENDER
- New rendered surfaces must have a wood float finish and be allowed to cure for at least 7 days.
LIGHTWEIGHT BLOCKS
- Surface must be free from dust.
- Prime the surface with 2 coats of Davco Ultraprime.
METAL SURFACES
- All metal surfaces must be totally free of rust.
- Prime metal surfaces with a suitable metal etching primer Building Boards.
- Standard wall / floor building boards must be firmly fixed in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions and appropriate Australian Standard(s). Such boards include plasterboard, fibre cement sheeting, marine grade ply and wet area composition board. Check with manufacturer of other building boards for their suitability.
PRIMING
- All surfaces should be prepared in accordance with Surface Preparation instructions Concrete Surfaces.
- Wood float finished concrete can be primed with Ultraprime. allow the primer to dry before application of the silicone.
- Steel trowel finished concrete can be primed with PrimeX. Allow the primer to dry before application of the silicone Timber Surfaces.
- This applies to solid timber floors, ply and particle board flooring. Prime the surface with Ultraprime. Allow the primer to dry before application of the silicone Compressed Fibre Cement.
- This should be primed using PrimeX. Allow the primer to dry before application of the silicone. 1L of Ultraprime or PrimeX will cover approximately 8-10m2/L depending on site conditions.
CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT
Clean tools and equipment and excess material with mineral turps before the silicone dries. Cured material can be removed mechanically.
