Sika® MultiSeal BT

HIGH TACK ELASTOMERIC BUTYL SEALING TAPE

Sika® MultiSeal BT is a self-adhesive sealing tape based on a butyl rubber compound reinforced with an aluminium film. High tack butyl adhesive ensures reliable, durable long term bonding to a wide range of substrates in internal and external applications.

The Product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +25 °C. Always refer to packaging.

Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The substrate must be sound, clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, cement laitance,
old sealants and poorly bonded coatings which could affect adhesion of the tape. The substrate must be of sufficient strength to cope with the stresses induced by the tape during movement.

For optimal adhesion, the following procedure is recommended.

NON-POROUS SUBSTRATES

Clean and pre-treat the substrate with Sika® Aktivator-205 applied with a clean towel. Allow a flash-off time > 10 min (max. 2 hours) before applying the tape.

 

POROUS SUBSTRATES

Use hot air to pre-heat concrete, aerated concrete and cementitious plasters, mortars and brick substrates to increase adhesion.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and application equipment immediately after use with petroleum or turpentine. Once cured, hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

For cleaning skin use Sika® Cleaning Wipes-100 and wash with water and soap.
